From training to public presentation
TRANSMETTRE is a professional video mapping programme initiated by Dark-Face Films and Aboubacar Bablé Draba. From November 6 to 25, 2023 in Bamako, twenty young artists completed three weeks of training in design, animation and video mapping.
The project builds a bridge between technological innovation and local artistic traditions. Aboubacar Bablé Draba took part as initiator and trainer within a wider team of experts; technical learning led to collective experimentation, work on physical volumes and finally an encounter with the public.

Creating for physical volumes
Participants made and mapped twenty masks through individual and collective projects. Kanaga, lion, deer, sheep, cow and fish became starting points for a visual language in which local symbols and narratives met video mapping tools. A Sotrama minibus also became a projection surface during the public presentation.
The works were presented over three evenings on the Ecoma grounds in Magnambougou as part of the Rendez-vous chez nous festival. The report records an audience of 10,000 across the festival’s three days. After the training, online groups and a network of project ambassadors extended knowledge-sharing among the artists.
